a virulent black fungus

creeps across a shuddering land.

Self-righteous crusaders

on the march again,

sanguinary slayers plot

a grizzley arcanum,

a head-rolling cabal.

Infididels have a cross to bear.

Religion, only good for the good

where all men are seraphim.

Life is fragile, handle with prayer.

Where is Savonarola

to a light a sublime path

for the unfathomable journey ahead?

Who will silence the rebarbative

men of white cloth before we are

driven to the Earth's dark edge

where only a lone monody will be heard?
